“It was during my studies at ESEO that I learned what perseverance was”
Xavier Crespo tells us in an interview given to ESEO Alumni that“ESEO was the starting point for my 18 year career in video games. Not just because of the expertise I gained from the excellent teaching, but also because of the compulsory2nd year internship.
A professor, who needed a trainee, presented us with the subject of his research, which consisted of simulating a laboratory environment using video game software.
That moment really clicked for me! Not only did it show me that I had the skills to carry out this kind of work, but it also showed me that the video games sector was a legitimate one for my engineering profile.”
A few years after graduating from ESEO, Xavier moved to Montreal to work as a programmer for a major video game publishing company.
But throughout these years, his desire to create his own comic strip grew.
Now he’s taken the plunge, and with his overflowing imagination and drawing skills, Xavier has changed his career path by becoming an author-draughtsman.

“I love telling stories and getting across messages that are close to my heart“
It was a radical change of life for this creative thinker, brimming with ideas and imagination, but one that is now contributing to his personal and professional fulfilment.
“I’ve always worked on my comic strip, alongside my job as an IT engineer. This personal project has become increasingly important in terms of interest and priority in my life. Wishing to remain independent in this publishing project, I took advantage of this new turning point in my career to also co-create my own publishing house and thus publish my works as I wish.”
Thanks to his ambition and perseverance, Xavier Crespo has unveiled his comic strip entitled“Cohabitation“, which takes us into the life of a young teenager, Thomas, who is bewildered by the world around him. He meets someone who completely changes his life…
Finally, Xavier Crespo gives some advice to anyone who wants to get into comics:
“First of all, I’d advise them to dare to get close to people in this profession. The feedback and advice they give is invaluable. I would also tell him that perseverance is an asset. Because the road to this profession may take longer than expected. But all the stages he has to go through will be useful, in one way or another. And finally, I would remind him not to forget his desire to do this job despite what others might think. Let’s live without regrets!
