Press release / Dijon, March 27, 2024
ESEO Dijon, a Grande École d’Ingénieurs present in Dijon since 2008, continues to develop its relationships with major players in local education via two major projects. With 9 other higher education and research establishments (ESR) in the region, ESEO Dijon is participating in the creation of an Experimental Public Establishment (EPE) in Burgundy-Franche-Comté which will be launched in January 2025.
This initiative aims to structure training offers, to carry out joint research and innovation projects, and to bring a new dynamic to the territory, to ultimately be recognized on an international scale. Building on this joint project, ESEO Dijon will open an “engineer-manager” double degree with Burgundy School of Business (BSB) at the start of the 2025 school year.
EPE, regional cooperation serving the territory
In December 2022, ESEO Dijon and its 9 partners – CHU Dijon Bourgogne, University of Burgundy, Burgundy School of Business, ESTP Paris, Sciences Po Dijon, ESC Dijon Bourgogne, École Supérieure de Musique Bourgogne-Franche-Comté, CESI , the Ecole Nationale Supérieure des Arts Appliqués de Bourgogne and the Ecole Nationale Supérieure d’Art – met to discuss the first bases for building the EPE which will be open to all ESR establishments in the region.
Sharing the common desire to carry out a structuring project for higher education and research, the eight partners aim to strengthen innovations, research and development dynamics, consolidate training offers and satisfy all aspects of the student life through the co-construction of an attractive and integrative campus life.
A regional project with international ambitions
The EPE initiated in Burgundy-Franche-Comté will integrate all areas of training and research, including artistic and cultural training. When it is created, it will already bring together 40,000 students, 1,200 teacher-researchers and 32 research laboratories.
This alliance aims to strengthen the influence of the region’s ESR on an international scale. Thanks to increased competitiveness in the implementation of joint projects and the intensification of the internationalization of the site, the future EPE intends to be recognized in the world university rankings, in particular by meeting the standards established on the international scene.
Promote the dynamics of the Burgundy-Franche-Comté region
Long weakened by weak demographic dynamics and the recruitment needs of local companies, the region continues to multiply initiatives to attract new talents. In 2022, the Burgundy-Franche-Comté economic agency announced that the region attracted 133 foreign investment projects, an increase of 14% compared to the previous year.
ESEO Dijon and its 9 partners intend to support the socio-economic fabric of the region in all its transitions. Through this cooperation, they also wish to develop student entrepreneurship and facilitate the professional integration of graduates from the region.
A double degree with BSB, the continuity of this cooperation
In addition to the regional EPE project, ESEO Dijon and Burgundy School of Business (BSB) will launch a double “engineer-manager” degree in initial and work-study training, from the start of the 2025 school year. A skill highly sought after and popular with businesses of the territory. This double diploma will allow ESEO students to join the BSB Masters of Science (MSc) and thus obtain a triple diploma: the ESEO engineering diploma, the BSB MGE and an MSc in one of the fields of excellence of BSB.
This agreement strengthens the links between the higher education establishments of Dijon Métropole and is part of the construction of the EPE Université Bourgogne Europe. Sonia Wanner, General Director of ESEO says: “This partnership is part of the development of the ESEO Dijon Campus initiated in 2019 and is representative of our commitment to offering our students high-quality interdisciplinary courses. I am convinced that this collaboration will promote the emergence of joint research and innovation projects.”
