News / Angers, 5 September 2024
On 5 July this year, ESEO Angers, a Grande École engineering school, was awarded the gold-level Pro-Vélo Employer label. This certification is the result of two years of commitment by the school to its employees and students. A number of initiatives have been taken, including the introduction of a fleet of bicycles for use on campus.
A long-standing commitment
Supported by the French Federation of Bicycle Users (FUB) and the French Environment and Energy Management Agency (ADEME), the Pro-Vélo label recognises sites and employers that implement ambitious initiatives to promote the use of bicycles. Since 2022, ESEO Angers has been stepping up initiatives to encourage and develop cycling among its employees. The school has benefited from tailor-made support from Objectif Employeur Pro-Vélo, an EWC programme designed to help stakeholders adopt a cycling culture (equipment, services deployed, etc.). Following this support, an audit was carried out and the teams were awarded GOLD level certification.
Going green
ESEO Angers now provides its employees with a fleet of bicycles they can borrow to make it easier for them to get around on business. The school has also created a new, fully-equipped and secure bicycle shed (repair and inflation station, anti-theft racks, secure access, etc.). This initiative enables all employees and students who so wish to cycle to campus. In addition, bike repair workshops are offered free of charge to all employees to encourage them to use their bikes.
In this way, ESEO Angers is taking positive action for the physical and mental well-being of its employees and students, and for the environment. Cycling has many benefits, including reducing CO2 emissions, improving quality of life at work, increasing productivity and reducing absenteeism.
