Press release / Angers, 3 July 2024
ESEO Angers, a leading engineering school, aims to develop initiatives that help to put technology and innovation at the service of people, society and the environment, and to train students to become responsible and committed professionals.
Focus on soft mobility
ESEO Angers now provides its employees with a fleet of bicycles they can borrow to make it easier for them to get around on business. The school has also created a new, fully-equipped and secure bicycle shed (repair and inflation station, anti-theft racks, secure access, etc.). This initiative enables all employees and students who so wish to cycle to campus. In addition, bike repair workshops are offered free of charge to all employees to encourage them to use their bikes.
Student and employee initiatives in favour of social and environmental issues
In January 2024, ESEO launched a call for projects with an ecological and social impact. The aim was to support the ideas and initiatives of the school’s students and employees in relation to social issues, from quality of life to reducing its environmental impact.
Following the jury’s votes, 3 projects were selected. They have been awarded funding.
- The ‘Panier Repas’ project aims to reduce food waste by helping the most disadvantaged. Leftovers are collected from retailers.
- The ‘Reset, le repair d’ESEO’ project, which aims to promote the repair of their faulty equipment while instituting a sustainable mode of consumption. It also aims to improve the technical skills of volunteers.
- The ‘Support for sustainable international student mobility’ project, which encourages the use of sustainable means of transport as part of international student mobility. Financial support is provided in the form of a mobility grant.
