Motor sport, a family passion
Nathan Caillet:“I started rallying in 2016 as my Dad’s co-driver. I was his organisation and his eyes, he was the driver.
When I was 18, I bought my first racing car with the money from the resale of my motorbike and my summer wages. In 2021, I went off the road and unfortunately broke my car. That’s when I knew it was time to move on! So I set about building my own car to bring it up to the higher category. It’s a 106 weighing in at just over 900kg for 180bhp, which gives a very interesting power-to-weight ratio.”
Runner-up in the French Rally Cup
Nathan Caillet: “For 1 and a half years, I gained experience from Valence to Bayonne via the Auvergne. It was at the end of the 2023 season that I managed to qualify for the final of the French Rally Cup. The top 20 competitors in all categories from each league were selected and I was part of the biggest league in France (Rhône Alpes with nearly 500 participants).
230 cars were expected to take part in the final, and I was number 156. In rallying, the bigger the number, the less the cars perform. In the end, my team-mate and I finished 54th overall, runners-up in the French Junior Championship (under 25s) in all categories, and 3rd in France in my category!
At the start of the famous Cevennes Rally with his mum!
Nathan Caillet:“This year, I decided to take part in a round of the French Rally Championship as an amateur. This race brings together professionals, semi-professionals and future champions. The Rallye des Cévennes is a well-known race for enthusiasts, with a 46km timed event, one of the biggest in France. The most incredible part? The co-driver is my Mum!
See you at the French Championship round scheduled for 24-26 October. A big thank you to ESEO for this great partnership”
